Isaac | Rural NC Senior Session

Somewhere buried in one of my childhood journals is a page with big bold letters that read “Mom’s having a baby!!!” I was 11, and my parents had just revealed the news that they were expecting a baby. It was a surprise for all, but the best type of surprise that could be.

Isaac McCabe Linton was born in January in 2005. Suddenly, it’s now 2023. Isaac is 18 and a senior in high school due to graduate in just a couple of months. I am among those that are scratching their heads, wondering where time has gone. That baby is now holding my baby and growing a beard.

Isaac is a young man with convictions, strong work ethic, kind heart, and a stubborn streak a mile wide. He’s never been afraid to be himself. I hope he will always let his authentic self shine.

He’s about to embark on another chapter in life. It’s one that involves college and the working world beyond that. Dad always said, “stay true to your roots.” Somehow, I think Isaac will find that the easiest of us all.

These photos are just a snapshot of Isaac. They encapsulate more than his hobbies and favorite things. They are a peek into his personality. It was more than a privilege to be able to take them, but it was also a heck of a lot of fun. We chased pigs, laughed until tears came, had deep conversations, and cracked jokes.

The other day, after sending these photos to Isaac, we had the following text exchange:

M: PS I’m proud of you

I: For what??

M: The person you are.

I: Well, you’re a big part of that, and I couldn’t ask for a better sister/boss.

What he doesn’t realize is how thankful I am to be his sister and honored he lets me boss him around still.

Enjoy the next chapter, Isaac. Stay true to your roots. Do your best. Always go on the adventure.
